Certified: GDPR-compliant Email Archiving with MailStore

MailStore Software GmbH, a leading German specialist for email archiving solutions, has had its MailStore Server version 11.2 software audited by the independent data protection experts interev GmbH for compliance with the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). The outcome is that the MailStore software has now been certified. When used properly MailStore software enables personal data to be processed in accordance with the data protection requirements as set out in the GDPR and the applicable German laws. The analysis was founded on both the Bundesdatenschutzgesetz (BDSG – German Federal Data Protection Act) and the 2018 version of this Act (BDSG 2018).

“Having our software certified by independent experts allows us to demonstrate to our customers and partners that our email management product is an essential aid, given the increasingly complex compliance requirements governing email processing,” said Roland Latzel, Director of Marketing at MailStore.

The expert report found that MailStore Server, when used correctly, in particular complies with the following rights of data subjects as set out in the EU GDPR:

• Right of access (Article 15),
• Right to object (Article 21),
• Right to erasure (Article 17),
• Right to data portability (Article 20)

furthermore the obligation to maintain records (accountability) can be fulfilled.

The audit followed the approach set out in Directive IDW PS 330 (en.: IDW AuS 330), a German standard audit of financial statements in an information technology environment.
